>> i just boat to a fire captain and he tells me the fire is under control. they're still in the process of fully putting out all the hot spots and remaining flames. this started around
7:01am
5:30 a.m.. i will show you video from earlier this morning, the fire captain tells me this quickly spread to a three alarm fire and it spread to the attic of the building. is a two-story apartment building with six units inside. i'm not exactly sure how many people live in side but fire officials tell me all the people that are living there managed to get out ok. a lot of firefighters are attacking us. when i spoke with some of the neighbors and the area a lot of people heard what sounded like gunshots. they came outside and saw the big fireball and realized something was burning. the sheriff's deputy tells me that he had to go through and tell 10 or sell homes to evacuate. that was earlier this morning because of the concern that the fire would spread to some of the surrounding homes. this fire is under investigation and again that they do have most of it put out. there now is
7:02am
working on remaining hot spots. no one injured in this fire except for two civilians with minor injuries. we're thankful that everyone is ok. >> we did check with fair oaks elementary school which is right across the narrow street from the fire. they will be having school on schedule this morning, they have start testing this week. >> this occurred at 520 this morning when southbound train no. one of two struck and killed a pedestrian. they stopped service for a while but they are now single tracking through the area. jackie sissel is with us on the kron4 and has been on the scene. >> i can tell you that they actually have taken the train away from the area. you can see some stigors from remains

out here. around 520 this morning a pedestrian was struck by that train there. it was here until about five minutes ago when it took off. they have been single tracking through the area presumably because of the fact that they remove the body and the train. the investigators however are still out here. they will open on both sides of the tracks relatively sound. i'm trying get the word from investigators how long before they expect service to be back to normal. the good news is the train has left this area. the investigators remain out here but it looks like they're getting close to reopening all lanes of these tracks out here. >> have you been able to learn anything at all about the nature of the accident? how it occurred what they suspect may be the cause? >> at this point they're really not saying much. they are collecting evidence and in fact some investigators are walking through the neighborhood trying to question people around the area.
7:04am
